I’m fundraising to support the families of sick kids
James is a lifelong friend of mine, and Jess has been a friend for 12 years — but what feels like a lifetime. Almost 5 years ago, they sadly lost their youngest daughter, Beth, after a short battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. She was just eight months old.
During those unimaginable three weeks, Ronald McDonald House gave James and Jess a room close to the hospital, so that even with COVID restrictions in place, they never had to be far from Beth. It meant they could be by her side, together, at the end.
In the years since, James and Jess have sponsored a room at Parkville Ronald McDonald House in Beth's name, and helped provide blankets and comfort items to other families going through the hardest weeks of their lives. I've watched them turn something unbearable into something that quietly helps strangers every day — and I wanted to do something to support that.
This September, I'm doing 26,200 push-ups — 100 for every precious day of Beth's life. That works out at 873 a day, and James and Jess will be joining me for some of it. I'm asking for your support, however big or small, to help keep a room sponsored at Parkville Ronald McDonald House, so more families can have what James and Jess had: a place to stay close, together, when it matters most.
